The Art of Brunching

Singapore is known for food be it the variety or quality. There is an option at every price range hawker centers, Food Republics or stand alone eateries.
Not really a foodie I still like exploring new food options. On a lazy Sunday morning when cooking is the last thing on my mind, a brunch is something I look forward to. This post is dedicated to the the beautiful cafes which make Sunday noon a  reason to rejoice and the weekend a gastronomical delight.

Super Loco

Located in a corner at Robertson Quay (which I think is a quieter version of Clarke Quay) this place is perfect after a weekend hangover, but still continuing on the festive mood. The perfect blend of pastels on the walls, the wooden benches and river view try and bring the Mexican experience to Singapore.

Reasonable on the wallet and a comprehensive variety of Mexican food, I have already been here more than once (Menu).

Must Haves:

- Any of the drinks (That is what Mexicans do the best. My favorite is the Wildberry Smoothi
- Sweetcorn Fritters
- Pancakes

Wildberry and Mango Smoothie

Japan How did I end up there for a vacation? When I think of Japan the few things that come to my mind are Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, earthquakes, Supply Chain Management, Kaizen, Toyota and the seasonal Cherry Blossom. None of which are an inspiration to plan a vacation to Japan in the month of August. Moreover after having spent a good 2 months to plan a Euro trip and spend time in the beautiful gardens of Florence, party in the streets of Prague, get the customary Eiffel Tower picture, Japan just did not sound like a great idea. But more often than not, my husband’s conviction wins over and that is how we ended up going to Japan. The trip was planned within a week unlike the itineraries I had spent time preparing. (The visa processing takes just two days, which is impressive.) Still not fully convinced what further added to my scepticism was the fact that whoever I mentioned Japan to assumed that it was a business trip and when they got to know it...

Shanghai

For anyone who enjoys the fast paced city life, loves to shop and ready to take the language challenge, Shanghai is the city to visit. Shanghai 2016 When we decided to visit Shanghai thanks my brother being there on an exchange, all that came to my mind about Shanghai (literally ‘on the sea’) was a populous city with bad traffic jams, a cloud of haze, limited food options and cheap shopping. Apart from cheap shopping I was largely incorrect in my assumption. Known for being the rebel city of China, and leading China in the journey to modernization, Shanghai has a lot to offer.  Unfortunately, there is not enough good sources on the internet to help you plan the trip and some information is dated as well. Recommend to go through Trip advisor reviews to decide where all to visit, along with inputs from China Highlights which does talk about most places.  Google Maps don’t work (neither does Facebook or Google) unless you buy a VPN connection. The data pl...

Berlin - The Hipster European City

Berlin Planning a trip to Europe usually means travelling to the likes for Paris, Amsterdam and more recently Croatia, Iceland etc. We recently did a trip to Berlin, and it has become one of our favorite cities in Europe. Unlike other developed cities like Paris, Berlin is still creating its identity and resurrecting from the after math of war and political instability. That city offers a chance to explore recent history as well discover some ancient treasures. It is also an amalgam of various cultures, with each neighborhood giving a different perspective on the city. Eating and drinking in the city is cheaper than many other cities with some great places to go. Our Journey and Some Must-Do's 1. Pub Crawl ( or if you have a longer time go around exploring the many bars) - We did an alternate pub crawl and certainly recommend it. Dr. Pong - A very basic bar, with a ping pong table. There are a bunch of geeks playing an extremely intense game. Anyone can join th...
